US Cost Guide is designed around practical estimates, visible assumptions, and update dates.

Calculator assumptions

The salary calculator estimates gross pay before taxes and deductions. The rent calculator uses common rent-to-income planning ranges and does not predict landlord approval. The business day calculator uses weekends and the listed 2026 US federal holidays.

Source policy

We prefer official or primary sources for public calendars and factual rules. Budget pages use planning ranges and clearly label estimates where exact values depend on city, household, employer, or personal situation.

Update policy

Pages with changing data include a visible review date. When a calculator rule changes, the page should explain what changed and when.

This site does not provide tax, legal, immigration, insurance, or financial advice. It is a practical planning resource.
